TO-DAYS’ SOUND by Piero Umiliani, realized in 1972 by the late Florentine genius with the aid of exceptional soloists including Dino Piana, Antonello Vannucchi, Franco D’Andrea, Maurizio Majorana, Oscar Valdambrini, Sergio Carnini, Giovanni Tommaso, Enzo Restuccia…

It was a unique situation in which some of the most skilled Italian performers were orchestrated by a great sound explorer and innovator, resulting in what many people agree is one of the most iconic albums of the ‘70s.

In fact, one of the album’s cues was chosen by the Maestro for the main titles of BABA YAGA (1973), the cult movie inspired by the comic book character Valentina by Guido Crepax and directed by the popular Umberto Lenzi, but the entire album with its jazzy vein is surely paradigmatic of the best of the composer’s art and the musicians’ performances.

The CD is released in a slim jewel case, with mastering by Enrico De Gemini and original LP artwork edited by Alessio Iannuzzi.
